Best Mountain Playgrounds in Grindelwald, Interlaken & the Jungfrau Region (Family Guide)
Why the Mountain Playgrounds of the Jungfrau Region Are the Best in Switzerland
I’ll admit it — I’m completely biased. Living near the Jungfrau Region means we’ve spent countless days exploring its mountain playgrounds. But even with that bias, I genuinely believe they are the best in Switzerland.
And yes — they really are as good as the Instagram posts make them look.
What makes them so special isn’t just the equipment (although that’s impressive too), it’s the combination of incredible alpine scenery, thoughtful design, and the way they turn a simple outing into a full adventure for the whole family.
Here are a few of our absolute favourites.
Beatenberg – A Hidden Gem Packed With Fun
Our personal favourite has to be Beatenberg. It’s a bit of a hidden gem, paired with a beautiful hike and packed with features: an airbag jump, swings, a pump track, and a climbing frame.
The best part? Almost every summer, there’s something new added, so it never feels the same twice. It’s the kind of place where you plan a short stop… and end up staying for hours.
Bort, Grindelwald – Play With a View
Bort above Grindelwald is absolutely stunning. There’s a fantastic mountain restaurant overlooking the playground, which means you can actually sit back, relax, and enjoy the view while the kids play.
Just one thing to keep in mind — it’s better suited to children who are already confident climbers, as the equipment leans more towards adventure than toddler-friendly play.
Männlichen – Famous for a Reason
It’s easy to see why Männlichen is so popular. The views are unbeatable, and there’s so much for the kids to do they’ll never get bored.
If you’re feeling adventurous, don’t miss the themed trail that leads down from the playground — it turns the whole day into something much more than just a stop to play.
Allmendhubel – Water Fun With a View
Reaching Allmendhubel is part of the experience, passing through the beautiful, car-free village of Mürren.
The playground itself is fantastic, with features like a water maze that kids are instantly drawn to. One tip: bring water gear. No matter the weather, children somehow always end up soaked — and loving it.
Schynige Platte – A True Hidden Gem
Lastly, there’s Schynige Platte — still one of the region’s quieter spots, although it’s slowly becoming more popular.
The playground is incredible, with charming Swiss-themed role-play stations that spark imagination. Nearby, the ‘Little Flowers’ trail loop is perfect for smaller legs, making it ideal for younger families.
Final Thoughts
What makes these playgrounds so special isn’t just the slides, swings, or climbing frames — it’s where they are.
High in the mountains, surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in Switzerland, they turn a simple family day out into something unforgettable.
So yes, I might be biased.
But if you visit a few of these, you might just start to agree.
And remember we at Prince kids love playgrounds, so if your schedule is fully booked and you think the kids could benefit from a chill adventure in one of these amazing places, please check us out. we can’t wait to hear from you.
